Why

This campaign is about protecting what matters and planning what’s next.

In 2024 Dan found out that the MPRP was proposed to go approximately 200' from his son’s playground and the home his family built in Mount Airy, MD.

It was devastating news for his family. But he soon found out they weren't alone and joined a local group, STOP MPRP, Inc. and found hope in uniting with other affected neighbors in the tri-county affected pathway.

His family loves being outdoors. There’s all kind of exciting wildlife in Mount Airy. There was once even rumors of a nearby bear.

But now our way of life and environment is under threat. A New Jersey utility company, PSEG, wants to install the most dangerous high voltage lines we’ve ever had in Maryland.

What for you ask? To power a data center in a completely different state.

The project will have a harmful impact on landowners, agriculture, and the environment while providing no benefit to Maryland residents.

As a real estate broker Dan knows the severe damage that will happen to property values along the 70 mile route through Maryland.

PSEG plans to bully Marylanders into agreeing to easements, and when they say no they’ll sue you, tell you to stop hunting on your land and then take your land through eminent domain.

It's the essence of kicking someone in the face when they're on the ground.

Further, PSEG refuses to explain why they rejected less harmful alternatives. Everyone in Maryland knows that existing infrastructure is available for this project at a price PSEG is simply unwilling to pay.

Environmental considerations have been routinely dismissed by PSEG and the company has failed to responsibly analyze the short and long-term impacts, due to the hurried and hasty nature of their rushed procedural schedule. Dan believes the environment needs to be protected.

This lack of transparency on environmental impact stains this project in its entirety. To get this approved they have steamroll the project through Maryland to get it approved.

And that means they'll try to steamroll YOU.

Dan won’t let them. And as your Councilman Dan will be your ears and advocate against this and FUTURE projects that will pop up. There will be MPRP 2 and MPRP 3!

We have to stand up to PSEG before it’s too late. Dan Iampieri is the fighter to do that and has fought the MPRP as an intervenor supporter of his affected neighbors.

He has also learned about the sprawling zoning proposed for additional data centers in Frederick County, MD. While some officials insist they will power themselves or have to figure it out, common sense says speeding up data center development may result in more MPRP-style projects.

We must preserve what is good and right in our county. We must preserve our farmland and agricultural charm. Frederick County is the most beautiful place to live in the state of Maryland.

We must work side-by-side with our farmers to ensure they’re not threatened by transmission projects like the MPRP, or over development (sprawl) of data centers. For far too long developers have walked all over this county and its leadership, allowing development without putting infrastructure and people first.

Dan is the only candidate who fully understands MPRP, data centers and how to fix housing which is clearly broken.

He's running to slow data center sprawl and fight to stop MPRP!

MPRP runs through the heart of District 2: Mount Airy, New Market, Monrovia (attention Landsdale residents!) and Urbana!

Whether you live in District 2 or elsewhere, supporting Dan Iampieri means you have an advocate for common sense on the County Council.

He will not rest until PSEG goes away, Frederick County gets sensible about data center development and we finally fix housing. (Housing is the number 1 voter issue according to Maryland REALTORS trade association study conducted by American Strategies.)

As a real estate Broker he has sat at thousands of kitchen tables helping people solve life's biggest question- what's next? He will plan what's next for Frederick County with his invaluable experience in decision making and collaboration (working together with other leaders, stakeholders and citizens) benefiting all residents of the County.
