I am Endorsing Dan Iampieri (R) for County Council District 2

Many of you have been asking me who I would like to replace me on the County Council. I've spoken with most of the candidates on both sides of the aisle who are running this year for District 2, and I have decided to endorse Dan Iampieri. Let me tell you why.

First and foremost, there are two huge issues this year that will dominate this election and I will only support someone who is on the right side of those issues. It shouldn't surprise you that I'm talking about the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP) and the data center overlay zone. Dan Iampieri is the ONLY Republican candidate for District 2 that has been on these issues from Day 1. He understands how important these issues are for Frederick County and right here in District 2, and I trust that he'll represent your interests and make the right decisions on the County Council.

Beyond any single issue, I also know that Dan will bring the intelligence, maturity, and good judgement to handle all of the issues that will come before him as a Council Member. He's going to do his homework and he's going to be prepared each and every time.

I also like Dan as a communicator. I've always felt that communication is job #1 in this position, and I trust that Dan will keep you informed and always explain his decisions.

At budget time, I also know that Dan will bring much needed fiscal conservatism to the budget debates. For too long, our budgets have been determined by how much revenue we have, rather than what do we really need to spend. As a business owner, Dan understands this and will bring a valuable perspective to County spending questions.

Lastly, Dan shares my own interest in a critical issue facing Frederick County - affordable housing. How many of you worry as I do about whether your parents or your adult children can afford to buy a home here in Frederick County? Dan and I have spoken about this a number of times now, and we share both our concern and how to address it. We need greater housing options - smaller and cheaper - and we need to be strategic in where we target that kind of growth to ensure that our infrastructure (particularly schools and roads) will support it. Dan will bring his expertise as a realtor to this challenge, and I think he'll have a great chance to succeed where others have failed!
